Lord, Could This Be You?

A scene from the Old Testament has been rolling through my head for weeks.  I knew it involved Elijah and how God knew about hidden ones.  I searched and searched my iphone Bible ap which I love except for their search engine.  I talked to Chuck about it and he had difficulty finding it also.. Finally I found it.

"Elijah replied, "I have zealously served the Lord God Almighty, But the people of Israel have broken their covenant with you, torn down your altars, and killed every one of your prophets. I am the only one left and now they are trying to kill me too." "Go out and stand before me on the mountain," the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the LORD passed by and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain, it was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And a voice said "What are you doing here, Elijah?" He replied again, "I have zealously served the LORD God Almighty. But the people of Israel have broken their covenant with you, torn down your altars, and killled every one of your prophets. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me, too." Then the LORD told him, "Go back the same way you came, and travel to the wilderness of Damascus. When you arrive there anoint Hazael to be king or Aram. Then anoint Jehu grandson of Nimshi to be king of Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Saphat from the town of Abel-meholah to replace you as my prophet. Anyone who escapes from Hazael will be killed by Jehu, and those who escape Jehu will be killed by Elisha! Yet I will preserve 7,000 others in Israel who have never bowed down to Baal or kissed him! 1Kings 19:10-18 NLT

i felt the Lord was giving me some encouragement about the 2016 Presidential election. With all the blatant sin and corruption in this country, which until our present president was proclaimed to be a Christian nation, it is easy to get very discouraged and think like Elijah. Basically he was saying what's the use, the world is going to hell in a hand basket, nothing will change and besides I am the only God fearing zealot left anyway.

Despite Elijah's despair the Lord gave him the plan to raise up two unexpected government officials to bring down Ahab and Jezebel(the Baal system), give them an anointed prophet and proclaimed unbeknown to Elijah he had thousands who had not bowed or kissed Baal.

I believe that the enemy of our soul and this country would like us to believe that we are all alone, nothing will change, so what is the use. But God says we are not alone, he has a plan in place and if we, HIS PEOPLE, will humble ourselves and pray, turn from our wicked ways He will hear from heaven and heal our land.

I pray this is the word of the Lord for November 8, 2016.
